Objective

To assist dependents and grandchildren of deceased, Missing in Action, or 100% permanently disabled veterans of service with the First Marine Division in furthering their education toward a Bachelor’s degree.

Policy

Grants of up to $2,500 per academic year are awarded to full-time (12 hours or more) undergraduate students (for up to a maximum of four years) who are attending an accredited college, university, or higher technical trade school. Neither graduate study requests nor applications at high-school or prep school levels are accepted. Payments are made directly to the education institution.

Eligibility

Limited to dependents and grandchildren of honorably discharged Marines and Navy Corpsmen who are deceased from any cause OR Missing in Action OR totally and permanently disabled who served in a unit that was part of, attached to, or was operating in support of the First Marine Division. A female beneficiary who marries before she completes her course work, or anyone, male or female, who fails to complete an academic year (for any reason other than scholastic) must reapply before scholarship benefits can be resumed.

Each beneficiary is responsible for ensuring that their college sends a verification to the First Marine Division Association Scholarship Fund of your full-time status at the beginning of each eligible school year. But please note: No payment will be made until the office is in receipt of this verification.

Scope

The Scholarship program is supported entirely by voluntary donations from Association members. Since the start of the program, over 500 students have received more than $2.2 million in tuition assistance.

Applicants must complete the form on this page. In order to verify the First Marine Division-related period of service of the deceased, Missing in Action, or 100% permanently disabled veteran sponsor, please complete the Standard Form 180 and mail directly to:
